A shitty end to a long day...

Have you ever heard the statistic that if someone has a bad experience in a restaurant, store, etc., they will, on average, tell at least 10 of their friends about it. Well I am willing to bet that I have more than 10 friends out there in Xangaland. I am also willing to bet that you will not want to eat chinese for a while after reading this. I knwo I won't be.

I went to China Express located at 2660 Wiley Blvd SW. (Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals License #:RS57-0056039) I got home and found two fruit flies in my rice and on my shrimp. I stopped looking because I was so grossed out. The Ling Ling's at China Express are going to have a visit from your's truely tomorrow morning and then I will probably call the health department. There is a report that states there were cockroaches in the kitchen. HOW NASTY!

Wow. It really has been a couple weeks since my last blog. I didn't realize until just now that I have lived in CR for two weeks today. It is soooo nice being alone and not having roommate drama. But on the other hand, I find myself a little lonely every once in a while. I love my apartment. I have everything I need. I am just working on a few projects to get stuff on the walls. I am especially excited about my bathroom. I am framing a bunch of quasi-nude black and white photos. I hope it turns out well. Work is work. I decided to pass up an Assistant Manager position. I need to put more focus on school and take care of myself and spend time with Nate right now. That is what is right and healthy for me. My district manager was a little bummed about my decision but understands where I am coming from. I have a bright future with the company if and when I want it. That is a nice thing to know. Nate and I are doing well. We were supposed to spend a couple days together over spring break but we are busy boys. He is coming up tomorrow afternoon and I think we are going out with a friend of his to celebrate my favorite holiday. Then it is back to work for both of us Saturday night. My grandma (mom's mom) has been in the hospital for over a week. I guess she is getting better but it has been hard because we are close and I have never seen her this sick. She is the rock of the family. She holds everything and everyone together. OH! I think Nate and I are going to DC this summer for a much needed vacation to see his mom and step-dad. I am incredibly excited because I have never been out East. The last big vacation I was on was in third grade when we went to Niagra Falls. I have been to Chicago and Mlps. numerous times since then but they don't really count. I hope we get to see the ocean and see some historical sites. I can't think of much else going on. The Move

Well boys and girls, the time is here. Almost anyway.

I am finally moving back to the grand city that is called Cedar Rapids. It will definitely be nice not to have to drive an hour one way to work anymore. If you want to stop over (a.k.a. bring me nice things for my new place), you know how to get ahold of me. I will be moving in Thursday and am off this weekend to get settled in and decorated. I am pretty excited about some of my ideas. We'll just see if I can pull them off with my minimal budget.

School is going okay. I will be cracking the books a little more than I have been once I am moved. Nate is doing fantastic. We are planning a fun little getaway for Spring Break and our one year anniversary is right around the corner. It is towards the end of April but that will be here before you know it.

I will probably post again after I get moved in and my cable/internet gets turned on.

Hey kids!

I am movin up in the world. Well, movin to Cedar Rapids. I signed a lease for six months tonight at Shamrock Apts. in SW Cedar Rapids. (Coincidence that I am Irish and I am moving in in March?) Nate went with me to go over the lease and look at the apartment to make sure everything was on the up and up. I am moving March 1. That gives me three weeks to pack...which could be a challenge. It will be good to get moved and stop driving an hour to work and then an hour back home every day. I shouldn't be so tired and hopefully will study better.

School is going great. I turned in some Intro to Business work about two weeks ago. It was two open book quizes and a paper. I got it back and received 10/10 on each quiz and I got 14/10 on the paper. My prof gave me 4 extra points for 'added effort'. I also took my first Accounting test last week. I got 94/100 on that. I was pretty happy with that. I think we are starting to get into more intense stuff so I am going to have to work harder to keep my grades up.

Nate is wonderful as ever. I am looking forward to our first Valentine's day together. I am sure it will consist of a box of pizza and studying. Holiday's aren't really his thing and I need to perfect my mad accounting skillz. He also thinks his brother introduced him to "The Notebook" which is so not the case. School is going great for him. He loves Iowa and I am glad he is a place that challenges him and makes him happy.

Work is still work. Not much to report there.

I guess since everyone has been wondering lately whether or not I was alive, I will make a quick post.

I have been incredibly busy with work lately. I started working in Cedar Rapids on the 19th of December at the Lindale Mall Starbucks. I trained my staff and it's a great team. I am excited about who I will be working with in the upcoming months. They have started calling me Clabby which I thought was cool because that was what a lot of people called me in high school. I started today in our new store. We got 7 pallets of product. If you have ever worked retail, you know how much 7 pallets is. If not, it's just plain and simple a lot of stuff stacked 4x4x6 ft. They would be easy to break down and work but they are really small boxes with boxes inside of boxes and then stuff is still wrapped in plastic. Today was a long day of busy work. Tomorrow and Sunday will probably be the same but I am pumped. Our store is BEAUTIFUL! If you are in the area, you are hereby invited to our Friends and Family event. There will be a ribbon cutting and stuff. It is Thursday the 12th from 4-6. Should be a fun time. Then we open to the public on Friday the 13th (I know) at 5:30am.

Nate and I are still doing great. It has been about 8 1/2 months for us which is awesome. I met his dad and step-mom on Christmas. I survived! They were really nice and welcomed me back so I must have made a good impression. But then, who doesn't like me after meeting me??? We (Nate and I) are going to go see Brokeback Mountain this weekend so that will be fun.

I start school next week. I am taking Financial Accounting and Intro to Business. I am going to bust my ass this semester and do well. Nate is going to help me with that (although he doesn't know it yet).
